Konkurs odbędzie się w dniach od 14 do 23 września 2015r. w Dąbrowie Górniczej i Katowicach w trzech oddzielnych specjalnościach: harfa, kontrabas, tuba oraz puzon basowy

Regulamin konkursu (Competition rules)

1. The 9th Michał Spisak International Music Competition in Dąbrowa Górnicza is organised by the Municipality of Dąbrowa Górnicza, Pałac Kultury Zagłębia (Zagłębie Palace of Culture) in Dąbrowa Górnicza and Akademia Muzyczna im. Karola Szymanowskiego (the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music) in Katowice, which also provides content-related supervision. The main organiser and coordinator of the Competition acting on behalf of the Municipality is the Department of Promotion, Culture and Sport at the Municipal Office in Dąbrowa Górnicza.

§2

1. The Competition will be held from 14 to 23 September 2015.

2. The Jury of the Competition will be comprised of outstanding musicians from Poland and abroad.

3. The Competition will be held annually. Every year in different musical disciplines.

4. The 2015 Competition is intended for musicians who were born after 14 September 1985.

5. In 2015 the Competition will be held in three separate disciplines:
a. harp,
b. double bass,
c. tuba and bass trombone.
§ 3

The applicants willing to take part in the Competition are required to send an application form, legibly completed in capital letters, attached to the Competition Rules by June 15, 2015 (the postmark date is decisive) to the following address:

Applications must also include:

1. Brief biographical note - the note, which will be used in all publications related to the Competition, should be typed, max. 2500 characters (without spaces). The organisers reserve the right to make cuts as necessary and to edit the biographical notes if they are too long or incorrectly written. All the proper names, e.g. first names, surnames, names of institutions etc, should be in full name. The biographical note must be additionally sent to the following e-mail address: zpielgrzym@dabrowa-gornicza.pl

2. Copy of an identity document (ID card, passport),

3. One current portrait photograph to be used in the Competition programme and in press publications. The photograph may be in the paper version or sent by e-mail to the address: zpielgrzym@dabrowa-gornicza.pl

4. Proof of payment of the registration fee in the amount of 45 Euro, or its equivalent sum in PLN calculated by the NBP rate effective on the day of payment, paid into the bank account of Pałac Kultury Zagłębia Bank PeKaO S.A. Account number:85 1240 4272 1111 0000 4835 1254 with the note: “IX Międzynarodowy Konkurs Muzyczny im. Michała Spisaka”.

Attention! In the case of request for an accompanist, additional amount of 15 Euro or its equivalent sum in PLN should be paid to the account.

5. Incomplete application documents and received after 15 June 2015 will not be accepted. The submitted documents will not be returned.

§ 4

1. The fee will not be returned if an applicant resigns from the participation in the Competition.

2. The applicants will be notified of the acceptance to the Competition and of the actual date of the possible preliminary elimination round in writing or by e-mail by the organisers by 1 July 2015.

§ 5
The Competition participants are transferring to the organisers, without any remuneration, their author’s economic rights regarding:
- performing of the pieces during the Competition,
- performing of the pieces during the laureate concert,
- the rights to their own image (done by use of all the photographic and recording techniques as registered during their participation in the Competition as well as in the laureate concert),
All the above mentioned rights are transferred by the participants in order to be used by the organisers in terms unlimited by time and territory in the following fields of exploitation:
1. recording,
2. copying in every technique,
3. introducing into the trade turnover,
4. storing into computer memory and the Internet network as well as any other,
5. public reproducing and performing,
6. exhibiting,
7. public display,
8. hiring,
9. leasing,
10. pictures and sounds broadcasting by means of wire or wireless technique, ground and satellite stations,
11. simultaneous and integral transmissions and retransmissions by radio, television and the Internet.

The exploitation of the above mentioned rights on the aforementioned fields will be executed by persons, companies, radio and television stations, Internet, phonographic companies authorized by the Competition organisers.

§ 6
1. The competitors perform with their own accompanist at their own expense. A request for an accompanist may be submitted together with the application to the Competition, in which case the organiser will arrange for an accompanist for a fee of 15 Euro or its equivalent sum in PLN (it concerns the possible preliminary elimination round and 1st and 2nd Rounds and the laureate concert).The amount of 15 Euro includes 1 rehearsal and the competition performances at the 1st and 2nd rounds.


2. If the accommodation during the competition is in Dom Studenta (Student House) of the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, the cost of accommodation for both the competitors and accompanists is covered by the organisers.

3. The organisers will ensure rooms for practice available to the participants.

4. Participants who qualify for the 3rd Round are ensured to have minimum one rehearsal with orchestra.

§ 7

After the arrival, on the day of auditions of the 1st round, competitors are obliged to check in at the Competition’s Office/Biuro Konkursu, which will be located at the Pałac Kultury Zagłębia in Dąbrowa Górnicza from 15 September to 22 September 2015, to confirm their participation in the Competition. (the address will be given in letters notifying of the acceptance to the Competition sent at a later date).

§ 8
1. All the rounds of the competition auditions will be held in public.

2. At all the rounds of the Competition, participants will perform in an alphabetical order starting with the letters selected by the organisers in drawing of lots.

3. For organisational reasons or for other important reasons, with the consent of the Jury Chairperson, the Competition Office (Biuro Konkursu) has the right to change the order of auditions within a single day.

4. In the 1st round all the competitors admitted to the competition will be auditioned. In the case of a large number of applications the organizers will provide additional sessions. No more than 12 competitors in a given discipline will be admitted to 2nd round. In exceptional cases the Jury has the right to increase the number by one person in each discipline. No more than 4 competitors in a given discipline will be admitted to 3rd round. In exceptional cases the Jury has the right to increase the number by one person in each discipline.

DOUBLE BASS


Except for the piece written for the competition and the sonata from the 2nd round, all the other pieces should be played from memory.

1st Round – Three pieces

1) Edouard Nanny – Capriccio no VI from the collection X Etudes-Capriccios
2) Hans Fryba - two parts "Suites in old style" to choose from the following:
a) Allemande and Gawoty ( Allemande without repetition)
b) Sarabande and Gigue ( Sarabande without repetition)
3) Johann Matthias Sperger – two first parts from the following sonatas to choose:
h-minor (T36), D-major (T38), D-major(T39) or D-major (T40)

2nd Round – Three pieces

1) One of the following sonatas:
a) Adolf Misek - Sonata e-minor op. 6
b) Francisek Hertl - Sonata
c) Franz Schubert - Sonata Arpeggione
d) Johannes Brahms - Sonata e-minor
2) The piece specially written for the competition

3) One of the following virtuoso pieces:

a) Govanni Bottesini - Tarantella or Variations on a theme "Nel cor piu
non mi sento" or Capriccio di Bravura
b) Reinhold Glier - Scherzo or Tarantella

3rd Round – Final with the orchestra – Two pieces

1) One concerto chosen from the following:

a) Govanni Bottesini – Concerto h minor
b) Jan Krtitel Vanhal – Concerto D major (cadence of only the 1st part, edited by H. K. Gruber).

2. Nino Rota - Divertimento Concertante part II - Marcia

Except for the piece written for the competition and the sonata from the 2nd round, all the other pieces should be played from memory.
